It is my first day of winter break. So. I need to get back into the swing of things.
First, Jessica wanted her MC, Nick. She didn't know what he looked like physically, so I kept it kind of generic. Though for some reason I really saw him in khakis.
So here are the three moods I immediately saw him in when I read his bio.
1) Defensive "you got a PROBLEM, buddy?" mode. I got the feeling he puts up some walls.
2) Having a laugh, possibly at someone else's expense.
3) Studying knowledge :) I think he lets his guard down and smiles more when he reads.

Next here is Melissa's Justine. This was very very hard to do o_o I am still not totally happy with the two poses with the sword.
In my defense, it is pretty tough to convey someone's size/build with circles and straight lines.
I wasn't sure if I liked the tank top or not. At first I didn't but I think it's sort of grown on me.
I also had trouble figuring out how a sword would scale; I'm not as up on my fantasy trivia as I should be.
There doesn't seem to be any sort of standard for what Excalibur was meant to look like, so I just did my best. And then I started playing around with sword designs and had tons of fun. Let me know which one you like best. At first I liked the wrapped hilt but now I think the horizontal ones are nicer. I guess the tone of your story will affect what the blade should look like.
Or maybe it looks all old and lame and covered in pond mold and then POWER UP and it is all shiny and new! I love stuff like that

Alright, so, I don't actually know what my MC looks like. He doesn't have a physical description, so I'm interested to know how others see him. Consider it a totally awesome experiment?
ReplyDeleteHis name is Nick. Twenty years old, medical student, a total smartass. He's the one making the sex jokes and mocking you in tutorials. He also actually knows things, and wants to be a plastic surgeon one day. Not boob jobs, mainly hand surgery. And anatomy is his lover. But in a completely legal way, ahem.
So, why med school? He grew up with a drug-addicted mother and absentee father, which impacted him and his little sister a lot. He's still recovering from it and has a tendency to dissociate when confronted with anything related to his past. His grandparents took over his care when he was 6 and he spent the rest of his childhood in suburbian bliss.
Still not coping too well with his mother's lifestyle, he got involved in the drug scene in his early teenage years until his grandma caught him smoking pot with the kid next door and put him on the right track: he was going to get through this, get into a good school, get good grades, and get into uni.
I don't know how that all combines into appearance, but you're magical and amazing, so...

ReplyDeleteHer name's Justine. She's a big girl, six foot tall, kinda built like a linebacker. Is a black belt and also does cross country, so even though people would call her chunky, she's actually fit. Oh yeah, and she's 16.
Let's see, long brown hair, brown eyes, wears a tough expression but she's really hard on herself all the time. Wears jeans and a girlie tee and she has this sword, you might have heard of it, it's called Excalibur.
It is never too late! I will start it asap. Holidays may slow me down but I shall have it for you by Monday!

ReplyDeleteOMG! OMG! It's probably a good thing all my co-workers are on vacation or else they'd be wondering why I'm running in circles, going, "WHEEEEEE!" in my cube.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thank you so so much! The sword she's holding works fine and is very similar to how the sword is described in the story.
And though the sword doesn't power up, my MC does find it in an amusement park and at first she doesn't think it's real. So there's that.
